5 Certifications to Build Your QA Testing Career

QA testers tell us that resumes with software testing certifications get more attention from employers. So which certification is best for a QA tester? Here are 5 options that will build your career.

  1. ISTQB Foundation Level Certification. ISTQB Foundation Level certification is the most popular certification in the world for QA testers. ISTQB Foundation Level is also the most popular request for a testing certification in U.S. job openings.

  2. ISTQB Agile Tester Certification. Agile testing has been important to QA testers for many years, so it makes sense that the ISTQB Agile Tester certification would also be important. It is popular globally and a popular request in U.S. job postings.

  3. ISTQB Advanced Test Analyst Certification. You really can't go wrong with ISTQB Test Analyst, ISTQB Technical Test Analyst, or ISTQB Test Manager, so it's more a decision about which QA tester career path interests you the most.

  4. AT*SQA DevOps Testing Certification. DevOps is a hot area. AT*SQA DevOps Testing certification shows you're ready to be part of a DevOps team. There is no prerequisite, so you can start with AT*SQA DevOps certification even without ISTQB Foundation Level.

  5. AT*SQA AT*Micro Credentials. While the 10 AT*Micro™ credentials are not technically certifications, if you get all 8 micro-credentials in the Testing Essentials stack, you'll automatically also receive the AT*SQA Testing Essentials certification! AT*SQA AT*Micro credentials are an easy way to broaden your knowledge of QA testing and strengthen your resume.
It's important to earn these QA testing certifications through AT*SQA so you can appear on the Official List of Certified & Credentialed Software Testers™ used by employers. Plus you will earn Testing Tiers® tester ranking points to maximize your level. If you earn an ISTQB certification through AT*SQA you can also appear on the ISTQB successful candidate register, of course.
